Where do you recommend for dinner on Friday night?

Alfriston village has a variety of traditional pubs and restaurants such as The George Inn and Ye Olde Smugglers Inne. If you want to venture out of the village, there is the Plough & Harrow at Litlington (long walk along by the river or a short drive), or Sussex Ox on Milton Street (drive only).

If you are looking for a more formal restaurant Rathfinny Tasting Room, The Star, Wingrove House and Deans Place Hotel. It is advisable to book well in advance for all reservations.

What else should I see and do in the area ?

One of the best walks in the region is a hike along the South Downs Way, to see the views of the striking Seven Sisters white chalk cliffs and open sea - the perfect hangover cure! The route runs from the National Trust site of Birling Gap to Beachy Head including its famous lighthouse. Stop for a drink outside at the Tiger Inn in East Dean.

If you want to test the full range of Rathfinny wines ahead of the day you can book a tasting tour on site at the Estate. Or if beer is more your thing, the Long Man Brewery is in nearby Litlington and a lovely walk along the Cuckmere River.

For the more adventurous there is a numerous spots at which to paddleboard from the local area along the Cuckmere River down towards the coast.
